Psychedelic Soul was popular in the late 60s & through the 70s. Acts like The Temptations, Jimi Hendrix, Sly and the Family Stone, Parliament & Funkadelic were pioneers during this black rock movement..& so was The Friends of Distinction!

The group wasn’t together long, but when they were together, they WERE EVERYTHING. They deserve their flowers because their discography stands the test of time.

The group’s songs have been sampled and covered by the BEST musicians ever. Who can say they weren’t influenced by this amazing group?

The 60s:

Albums Released: Grazin’, Highly Distinct.

The group was discovered by former NFL player turned actor, Jim Brown & signed to RCA Records in the late 60s. The group’s first hit was a vocal cover of Grazing In The Grass, which was a top 3 pop hit & top 5 on the R&B charts.

The group also saw success with their follow up single “Going In Circles!” 😩🙌🏾

The 70s:

Albums Released: Real Friends, Whatever, Friends & People, Love Can Make It Easier, Reviviscence- Live to Light Again

The group’s last top ten pop hit was “Love Or Let Me Be Lonely.”

The group continued to drop consistent records through the 70s. Quality record after another.

The group disbanded not too long after the release of their final studio album, but will always be remembered for their groovy tunes and sensational ballads. -MJ. 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
