markizdj.com is a safe haven for R&B junkies and music lovers of all genres! I’ve been giving musicians (mostly Black musicians) I feel are worthy of being called legends their “flowers.”
I started my blog as a forum to speak my mind about current events and how I feel about everyday topics, because my friends motivated me to do so. However, after the death of Prince, & Michael Jackson & Whitney Houston and so many more of our black icons who passed before he did..I was motivated to start giving Black entertainers their flowers while they are still with us. We (well y’all) often treat our legendary artists like they are washed and their time is up.
My duty is to show our legends that their contributions to music are just as important as any other artist..and to introduce the new generation to artists before their time. -Markiz Johnson.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the family, friends and fans of legendary basketball GOAT Kobe Bryant, & his daughter Gianna Bryant. Growing up, Kobe was one of my favorite players who played on my favorite team (LA Lakers). He was so much more than a basketball player..& it speaks volumes to the type of man he was. Rest peacefully!
