Enchantment: Give Our Legends Their Flowers.

Formed by: Emanuel “EJ” Johnson, Joe “Jobie” Thomas, Bobby Green, Edgar “Mickey” Clanton and David Banks.

R&B bands were immaculate in the 70s. It was a time where bands were out here releasing flawless ass music in harmonies. Enchantment found their niche with soulful ballads. They were dangerously good. & releasing QUALITY WORK, makes them worthy of their flowers.

Enchantment’s music has been covered and appreciated over the years by the likes of Michel’le, Jesse Powell, Terry Ellis & many more.

Enchantment (1977):

Favorites: Gloria, Sunshine, Come On and Ride, Thank You Girl for Loving Me, Dance to the Music, My Rose, Hold On.

The group’s self titled debut album was so good, you’d think it was a seasoned group’s album. The immaculate vocals of Emanuel E.J. Johnson on their song “Gloria” is simply magical. ๐Ÿ˜ฉ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿพ

Soft Lights, Sweet Music ( 1980):

Favorites: Settin’ It Out, I Cant Be The One, Moment of Weakness, I Cant Fake It, You and Me, I Believe in You, Are You Ready for Love?

The 80s was a time where disco was out, & electronic influenced music reign supreme. However, Enchantment stayed true to the formula that made them a household name with Soft Lights, Sweet Music!

Enchanted Lady (1982):

Favorites: Only You, Peace is What The World Needs, I Know Your Hot Spot, I Can’t Forget You, Adora, Your Love is Like a Melody, Toe Jammin.

The group kept their signature sound on Enchanted Lady! Some of my favorites are Adora, Your Love is Like a Melody, Toe Jammin, & I Can’t Forget You.

Utopia (1983):

Favorites: Don’t Fight the Feeling, Lovestruck, Give It Up, Gotta Find a Love, Come Be My Lover, I’m Dreaming, Somebody’s Loving You.

The group’s final album is so underrated. Some of the best R&B records will never be noticed because of the label’s lack of promotion.

Enchantment remains one of the best male R&B groups of all time! They continue to tour to this day. -MJ
