R&B is not dead as long as Ledisi is releasing music! Ledisi has been blasting audiences for 18 years (longer if you count her years with the group she formed called Anibade,) & R&B hasn’t been the same since.
Her voice is beautiful, she can blend genres like R&B & jazz..& KILL IT! Period.
Ledisi portrayed the gospel legend Mahalia Jackson in the 2014 movie Selma. Her rendition of Take My Hand, Precious Lord is LIFE!
The NPR music Tiny Desk Concert is something I always look forward to watching..but when Ledisi performed? I was SHOOK! She gave me all of my life and then some.
Ledisi has a strong fan base, even the Obamas! She’s been invited to sing at the White House 7 times! Here’s one of those times when she sang a cover of Mary Wells’ hit My Guy.
Robert Glasper has worked with some of the most amazing black artists. So you know that he HAD to work with Ledisi right? Gonna Be Alright (F.T.B.) is everything!
Stevie Wonder & Ledisi…Enough said.
Prince & Ledisi preformed together at Coachella in 2008, & had a whole collab! ❤️❤️

Lost & Found (2007):
Favorites: Alright, In The Morning, Best Friend, Think Of You, We Are One, Someday, Joy, You and Me, Upside Down, The One, Get To Know You.
The songstress came through with this record. Her debut album on a major label finally gave her the recognition she deserves. You get lost inside of this album with stellar production..& Ledisi’s calm and soothing vocals. “Alright” is the song that made me fall in love with Ledisi and to keep a close eye on her work!
Turn Me Loose (2009):
Favorites: Trippin, Say No, Higher Than This, I Need Love, Them Changes, Turn Me Loose, The Answer To Why, Alone, Runnin’, Love Never Changes, Knockin’.
Ledisi went in a new direction with this album, & still brought her classic elements of jazz & neo-Soul with her! Change is good, especially with Ledisi. A lot of the songs were more funkier than ever, but with legendary producers like Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis, longtime collaborator Rex Rideout & the great Raphael Saadiq, anything sounds good for this queen to sing!
Pieces Of Me (2011):
Favorites: Pieces Of Me, BGTY, Coffee, Bravo, Stay Together, Shut Up, I Miss You Now, I Gotta Get To You, Simple, Shine, Raise Up.
An ALBUM! Pieces of Me is one of Ledisi’s most commercially successful albums, & rightfully so! working with some of the best contemporary R&B producers..she comes through with amazing jams and ballads.
The Truth (2014):
Favorites: I Blame You, That Good Good, Like This, 88 Boxes, Missy Doubt, Lose Control, The Truth, Can’t Help Who You Love, Rock With You.
The Truth is one of my favorite Ledisi albums, & it should be everyone’s favorite period! She came through with quality Soulful bops..& everything in-between. The growth with every album is evident!
Let Love Rule (2017):
Favorites: Here, Shot Down, Us 4Ever, Forgiveness, High, All The Way, Hello, Let Love Rule, Give You More, Add To Me, If You Don’t Mind.
Let Love Rule shows the world that R&B isn’t dead. Ledisi is at her best on this LP, & it makes me happy that she’s winning! Songs like High & Add To Me were some of 2017’s best songs and in this decade alone.
Ledisi is a legend! She’s behind some of the most amazing songs in R&B..in the past decade. She has a voice that’s wonderful and bops for days! Give her every flower in the garden. She’s a R&B QUEEN!
