Cash Money Records is a label..a BLACK label that has given us so many legendary Hip-Hop songs that stand the test of time.

Being a home to artists like Drake, Nicki Minaj, Wayne, B.G., Turk, Mannie Fresh, Birdman, Juvenile and more, Cash Money Records is one of the most iconic and successful record labels EVER. Did I mention that it is a BLACK label!? 

Founded by brothers Bryan “Birdman” Williams & Ronald “Slim” Williams, the rise of Cash Money is literally a rags to riches tale of New Orleans natives trying to make it, & did. I believe every artist on this label deserves their flowers, but let’s take a look at the artists who made this label a household name! 

Hot Boy$:

One of the best rap groups ever! I would definitely be here for a reunion tour, because they have some bops together. 

Juvenile:

Juvi has so many HITS that it was hard for me to choose three videos for this section of his solo career. Like man. His flow is sickening, the production on his songs is sick as well. I almost never hear no one speak of Juvi being one of the greats. Appreciate him more. He gave us the best hip hop song of all time that STILL gets the people  to the dance floor! 

B.G.:

My favorite R&B legend! touched on Teena during her Motown years, but her albums with Cash Money are some of the best R&B albums released in the 2000s period. La Dona was IT in 2004. My mom bumped it faithfully that summer, & I remember the great memories I have while listening to that album. 

& Sapphire? Flames! 🔥🔥 her collaborations with former Motown labelmate Smokey Robinson are important. & Ooh Wee? PERFECTION! Teena brought authentic R&B to a predominantly Hip Hop label. I miss her. 

Young Money:

Lil Wayne’s imprint Young Money was a breath of fresh air to the Cash Money label, bringing forth new talents like Tyga, Drake, Nicki Minaj, Jae Millz, etc. Rich Gang was both labels coming together to compose a record. Tapout is still 🔥🔥🔥🔥.

Listen. Nicki is untouchable when it comes to her features. To date, she still wins for her verse on Kanye West’s Monster..OR her Lookin’ Ass Nigga song.  🔥 You can’t deny Nicki’s impact on the rap industry for the past 8 to 10 years. Legendary. 

Cash Money Records is a powerful Black label who deserves some RESPECT on its name. Birdman has publicly stated that the entire purpose of the label was to “get his loved ones out of the projects & into a positive way of life.” 

Also, he wanted to help others escape poverty. & that’s the best thing African-Americans can do for each other: escape your adversity, & motivate others to do the same if you can’t help everyone. Give every single person on this label or was (mentioned or unmentioned,) their FLOWERS! – MJ.
