I have the FAITH that can move any mountain.
Faith Evans is more than the widow of the legendary Notorious B.I.G. She is a legendary R&B artist/songwriter & producer who has VOCALS! No one is seeing Faith on the stage, period.
With a career spanning over 20 years, Faith is worthy of her flowers. At times, I feel as if her career gets overlooked because of who she was married to, so let me break down why Faith is a LEGEND.
That moment when Faith was singing with her musicial mother Karen Clark-Sheard. They don’t call her “Little Karen” for nothing! Faith has to record a gospel album for the culture. The church was her first musical home for heavens sake!
OR that time when she tore up the place when she did her tribute for Chaka!? Priceless.
AND when she tore up her signature song with Kelly P? MAN!
& this rare video of her singing one of my favorite songs “No Other Love?” Incredible.
Here’s why Faith’s discography is important to the world of R&B.
Faith (1995):
Favorites: No Other Love, Come On Over, All This Love, Reasons, Fallin’ In Love, Ain’t Nobody, You Used To Love Me, Give It To Me, Soon As I Get Home.

This is how you release a debut album! Nothing but flames 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Keep The Faith (1998):
Favorites: Love Like This, Sunny Days, My First Love, Anything You Need, No Way, Life Will Pass You By, Never Gonna Let You Go, Lately I, Caramel Kisses.
Keep The Faith is an album that stands the test of time. Faith’s signature song “Love Like This” rests here, & it is a soulful pop bop that will get anyone ready for the dance floor. Ballads like My First Love, Never Gonna Let You Go & Anything You Need gives us the classic Faith we love. Sunny Days is also an important song to Faith’s catalog if you ask me. Those album cuts are where you see her shine the MOST!
Being an album that was released after the tragic death of Big, Keep The Faith misses the “sophomore slump” because of Faith’s stellar vocals & production that is as smooth as water washing along the shores. & to think that Faith was discouraged during the recording of this album. Things Faith did: THAT.
Faithfully (2001):
Favorites: Alone In This World, You Gets No Love, Burnin’ Up, I Love You, Do Your Time, Where We Stand, Heaven Only Knows, Can’t Believe, Don’t Cry, Brand New Man.
my favorite Faith album. Every song is fire! It’s one of those albums that you can play all the way through with zero skips. 🔥🔥🔥 The Burnin’ Up Remix still gets played heavily….& You Gets No Love? A BOP ladies and gentlemen. I will never get tired of it 😩.
This is Faith’s last album with the Bad Boy label, & it is everything you can come to expect from Faith honestly. The ballad “I Love You” is a strong highlight from this record…for being sensual, & is ear candy.
Faithfully is where I feel Faith experimented the most with other music genres. Elements of Gospel (Heaven Only Knows,) Jazz (Do Your Time) & Hip-Hop (You Gets No Love, Alone In This World,) puts Faithfully on a high pedestal with her best albums. She always delivers…but this album is still a problem! 🔥🔥🔥🔥
The First Lady (2005):
Favorites: I Don’t Need It, Goin’ Out, Stop N Go, Mesmerized, Catching Feelings, Jealous, Tru Love, Until You Came, Lucky Day.
The First Lady album is a reminder to the R&B girls that Faith is here to stay! The “I made it through the storm” Again, & the James Brown sounding Mesmerized are just a few of the incredible songs created during this era. 🔥🔥🔥
Something About Faith (2010):
Favorites: Right Here, Your Lover, Gone Already, Way You Move, Party, Real Things, Worth It, Can’t Stay Away, The Love In Me.
Faith’s first release on her own imprint, Something About Faith is criminally underrated, compared to her previous work. There are so many gems on this record: from her duet with R&B songstress Keyshia Cole, Party, the sultry “Right Here” & the immaculate Gone Already makes this album nothing but flames.
R&B Divas (2012):
Favorites: Tears of Joy, Dumb, Too High For Love, Soon As I Get Home (Live,) Jesus Loves Me, Sister Friend, She’s Me, Stonewall.
Created during Faith’s TV One reality show “R&B Divas,” this album is a compilation of music from Faith & her sisters in R&B: Monifah, Nicci Gilbert of Brownstone, Syleena Johnson, KeKe Wyatt & Kelly Price. An album! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Incomparable (2014):
Favorites: Prelude/Thank You Good Night, I Deserve It, Really Wanna Do, Fragile, Make Love, Good Time, Paradise, He Is, Maybe.
Incomparable is one of my favorite albums from Faith because she brings back the R&B we miss so much. Not one song on this album is bad..but I feel like it is so underrated!
Her collaborations with KeKe Wyatt, Missy Elliott & Sharaya J, Problem & her musical mother Karen Clark-Sheard are nothing but iconic. The Jazmine Sullivan penned “He Is,” is good music for the soul!
The King & I (2017):
Favorites: Legacy, Fool For You, Don’t Test Me, Tryna Get By, I Don’t Want It, Ten Wife Commandments, A Little Romance, Got Me Twisted, When We Party, Somebody Knows, Take Me There. One In The Same, Lovin You For Life, NYC.
Released 20 years after the tragic death of The Notorious B.I.G., The King & I proves that this should’ve happened a long time ago! Faith & Big didn’t make many songs together when he was alive, but it was magic to hear them on the same track. The King & I features unheard verses from Big and ones that we have heard, but they fit well with the songs! Don’t sleep on this album! Straight fire! 🔥🔥 even the interludes are incredible. 😊
Like I’ve stated previously, Faith is more than the widow of The Notorious B.I.G. Outside of being an incredible mother to four talented children, being a R&B legend, songwriter, etc…what I love about Faith is that she doesn’t have to get with the times. The times have to catch up with her! She is a MUSICIAN okay?
Her flowers were deserved a long time ago, so appreciate a vocalist like Faith while we have her! 🌸🌺 – MJ.
