A snap of the audience minutes before Rihanna started her performance this past Friday.
Now that I am off of my Riri high and calmed down, I’ll try my best to not be a biased fan during this review. When I tell YOU….that Ms. Fenty outdid herself this time around, she DID. Rihanna’s “Anti World Tour” stopped in Chicago, Illinois this past Friday & I was beyond excited. I purchased my ticket the moment the link to purchase tickets surfaced the internet. I was on a budget, so unfortunately I didn’t get VIP, but I was close enough. This was my second Rihanna concert (the Diamonds World Tour in 2013 was the first,) so I was so ready to see how the concert would play out. I loved EVERYTHING about the concert: the people, who were great to be around. Leave your opinions about Rih on Stan Twitter, beloved. When I tell you that the stadium was PACKED, I could barely breathe..but I didn’t care. I was just happy to see my fave. It felt so good to be in a stadium with people who shares the common interest of loving the Bajan beauty. Chicagoans know how to turn UP, & I will definitely go to any concert there before I go to one in Milwaukee. They really were hype once Travi$ Scott came to the stage. I must say, the concert made me realize how good Scott really is as a rapper and producer.
Trav’s interaction with the crowd was so amazing. Trav got into the crowd and a fan rapped one of the songs on his set list. My favorite song of his, is Don’t Play (Big Sean is featured on this song). Rihanna did an amazing job picking Travi$ as an opening act big time. After his set, we waited for a while until the crowd was ready. Pretty soon..we all hear the intro to stay started playing, & I completely lost my mind. With Rihanna’s catalog of number one hits & TIMELESS hits, her set list was pretty great. She performed Stay & LTWYL before crossing over to the main stage. She performed two of my favorites from ANTi, (Woo & Sex w/ me,) and stated how she was so ready for Chicago. I loved how she was conversing w/ us like we were sitting with her individually. That vibe just felt so great to me.
As she went through her set list, I just stood and wondered how amazing she sounds. Stan twitter can sit and joke about her vocals all she wants, but Rihanna proved her haters wrong hitting those notes people thought she couldn’t. In a video I made of her hitting the high note she’s been making on Desperado, I said you better F it up Rih!” Love on the Brain was spectacular, everything was spectacular to me! Speaking that I went to this concert by myself, i had the time of my life. It was just the best day I’ve had in a long time, and I will cherish it until the next world tour she has. 🙂
