Mint Condition: Give Our Legends Their Flowers.

I always say musicians from the Midwest are the best. Mint Condition isn’t an exception. Their versatility as a group is simply out of this world. R&B is one thing, but switching it up and going to jazz, New Jack Swing, Neo Soul, Funk & Rock is just wow.

The 90s:

Albums Released: Meant to Be Mint, From the Mint Factory, Definition of a Band, Life’s Aquarium.

The group was discovered by legendary producers Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis (known for being frequent collaborators with Janet Jackson & countless others) & signed to their label Perspective Records.

Their debut album “Meant To Be Mint” was released in 1991. The album is known for its take on the New Jack Swing era, along with two immaculate ballads that are well known from the group: “Forever in your Eyes,” & “Breakin’ My Heart (Pretty Brown Eyes).”

The group’s subsequent albums From the Mint Factory, Definition of a Band, & Life’s Aquarium continued the group’s popularity as one of the most incredible R&B bands from the 90s.

The 00s:

Albums Released: Livin’ the Luxury Brown, E-Life.

The group’s next albums didn’t come until the mid 2000s, & they did not disappoint.

One of my favorite MC songs from the 2000 years is “Nothing Left To Say.” Stokley sounds amazing on this record! ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿพ

The 10s:

Albums Released: 7…, Music @ the Speed of Life, Healing Season.

The group celebrated 20 years of being music veterans by releasing their album “7.” It’s one of my favorite albums from them easily!

The group’s lead singer Stokley Williams released his solo debut album in 2017, titled “Introducing Stokley.” One of the best songs on his album is named “Organic.” ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿพ

Mint Condition is one of the baddest bands in the world of R&B. There aren’t that many groups that can have a long lasting career, but this group is everything and then some.

I feel as if they deserve more recognition for their contributions to music. -MJ.
